In 2012 I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology, thereafter I completed my honours in Psychology. I have also completed my masters in research psychology in 2015 and my PhD in 2020, and am therefore a qualified researcher. I however always had a passion to work with, and to help people, and I thus completed the Vita Nova Humanitas Counselling course in March 2021 which enabled me to become a Specialist Wellness Counsellor.
I have always had a passion for working with people who went through challenging and/or traumatic situations, as I can relate to that in a way. I am born with a genetic eye condition, Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), which left me without peripheral vision. Being visually impaired granted me advantage of not being affected by what the eyes perceive, making assumptions and being judgemental. It connects me to the essence of situations. With the counselling process, I would like to journey with you through traumatic events, loss and grief, anxiety and stress, self-esteem problems, work through your emotions and help you to develop effective coping strategies. I will create a safe, non-judgemental space for you, where you can drop the mask that you wear for the world, and just be yourself. I cannot make the hard stuff go away, but I can collaborate with you to find the best way to cope with it. I want to help you to not just survive, but to thrive in every aspect of your life.
I want to end off with the following quote: “today’s accomplishments were yesterday’s impossibilities” – Robert H Schuller.
