Cherane volunteers her time by offering free online counselling via Zoom.

“Live the life you love”. This is one quote I try and apply to my life, however since I started studying psychology and especially through doing the Vita Nova Humanitas course this year I quickly learned that to live the life you love our mind, body and soul needs to be in harmony.

I have always been interested in and curious about human behaviour. What factors influence our way of thinking? What makes us ‘us’? Why we act the way we do in different situations? This interest and curiosity fuelled my passion in psychology and to pursue a career in this field. I have a Bachelor degree in Psychology and Criminology and in 2020 obtained my Honours degree in Psychology. I have always had a passion to listen and help people, I would go as far as to say that this passion is in my DNA. My ability to communicate, understand and put myself in another person shoes comes naturally.

As human beings, we need to remember that asking or admitting you need help is not a sign of weakness, but rather a strength. It is okay to make mistakes, to have bad days, to be less than perfect, to do what is best for you and most importantly to be yourself.
