Ashika volunteers her time by offering free online counselling via Zoom.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.” – Albus Dumbledore

My name is Ashika Singh. My passion for life has taken me on a journey were I have come to learn that we all need that shoulder to lean on, someone we can talk to, who will listen, understand and give us the comfort and the direction that we seek.

Vita Nova has taken me a step closer to ensuring that as a counsellor, I can offer a more positive approach to helping others. My past education and experience has groomed me into fulfilling my passion and accomplishing this goal.

After completing two years as a foundation phase educator, I decided to continue with my studies and completed my Masters in Social Science (Psychology) from UKZN, Pietermaritzburg in 2017. I am currently completing a Masters in Education (Learning Support, Guidance and Counselling) at the University of Pretoria. I also had the privilege of being a volunteer at CHOC for many years assisting with awareness campaigns and play activities at Albert Luthuli Hospital and Greys Hospital.

I enjoy working with people and I would feel honoured to assist all those who require a listening ear, especially younger children as I see the need for them to be better understood, especially in today’s day and age where outer social platforms dictate the way of life.

“Wherever there is a human in need, there is an opportunity for kindness and to make a difference.” Kevin Heath
