Working with the child-client
7th Nov 2019 @ 9:00 am – 8th Nov 2019 @ 4:00 pm
Working with children can bring about an array of joys as well as challenges.
We do not expect of a child to function on the level of an adult in day-to-day life, nor should we expect children to experience, work-through and communicate trauma or difficult life changes in the same manner as adults would.
If you want to work with children successfully, you have to let go of adult norms and standards, find the child within, get down to your child-client’s level and communicate with him there. Play is seen as the natural language of children. What better way then, to allow a child to express himself than through play? Play becomes the words of the child, providing children with the opportunity to express emotions, thoughts and experiences of which they might not have the vocabulary.
This module/workshop will equip you with hands-on, practical aspects and skill necessary to effectively work therapeutically with children.
