Understanding my tribe: Workshop for Grade 6-7 girls

10th Apr 2021 @ 9:00 am 1:00 pm

R450 per person

Research shows that the girl-brain is driven to connect. These connections are not with Mom and Dad, but with their female friends.  These connections are incredibly important for their social development and will set them up emotionally for the rest of their lives.  Unfortunately friendships don’t come with a manual and we see that most girls battle with conflict, power dynamics and cliques in their tribes.  This puts enormous strain on the girl and contributes to anxiety, low self-esteem and sometimes suicidal thoughts.

Put boys into the mix and you have a recipe for chaos!  Girls battle to navigate and understand the pressure society/boys/friends put on them to engage romantically and sexually. It is confusing, scary and mostly not what the girl wants. Unfortunately they don’t know how to resist this pressure or how to interpret it.

Mariska van der Meulen will be hosting a workshop for girls to help them understand these murky waters.  She will be dealing with:

  • Understanding my tribe
    • What is happening to me and my friends?
      • Hormonal changes
  • How to deal with conflict in my tribe
  • Entering the romantic world
    • How to deal with boys
    • How to deal with peer pressure
  • and much more!

Please note: This workshop will be presented in Afrikaans for Grade 6 and 7 girls.
